Borjomi is a small resort town situated in a scenic canyon in the Kura river. As the name reveals, it is also the homecity of Borjomi mineral water, which you can taste straight from the spring there – it is salty and warm and definitely not something you usually drink. If you are looking for a day of relaxation, a visit to the charming city park and chilling in the pool filled with natural hot volcanic spring water would be a great idea. But what we had in mind was a little bit more adventurous.
We got up as the sun filled our room with light, looked through the window and caught a sight of our day’s destination – the Shkhara mountain’s glacier. Shkhara is the highest point in Georgia and one of the highest peaks in the whole Caucasus mountain range. Needless to say, it is a marvelously looking wonder of nature.
One early and bright summer morning in Tbilisi I woke up after a good night’s sleep and decided to visit the mountainous Svaneti region, which I heard was stunningly picturesque. Went to the Vagzali bus station where the intercity marshrutkas are waiting for travellers and at 7 o’clock me and my boyfried were already setting off to an adventure.
